Types
Compact Fluorescent Light - These are energy saving lights that use less power, have a longer life as compared to any ordinary light bulb.

Flood Lights - Flood lights are categorized as artificial lights that are used to illuminate a wide area and is commonly seen at sport venues and stage productions.

Fluorescent Light - Fluorescent lamps are gas discharging lamps that excites mercury with the use of electricity and ballast to regulate the flow of power through the lamp in order to generate light.

Gas Discharge Lamp - They belong to the group of artificial light sources that creates light by sending an electrical discharge through an ionized gas.

Halogen Light - This is a type of incandescent light that has a tungent filament sealed to a compact transparent envelope along with other gases to produce light.

Incandescent Light Bulbs - These are the sources of electric light that work with the help of heat driven light emissions, when an electric current passes through the thin filament that heats it up to produce light.

Led Bulb - These are the solid state lighting that uses LED (light emitting diode) to produce light and have the advantage of being environmentally safe.

Miniature Bulbs - These types of light lamps are widely used as the automotive or decorative lamps that have a partial plastic or even complete glass base.

Recessed Lighting - This kind of light fixture is placed in the hollow opening of the ceiling. The concentrated light falls in a downward direction as a broad flood light.

Spot Lights - Spot lights are primarily used in hunting animals that makes special use of the eye shine revealed by many animals. They are also used to highlight a particular area for dramatic use.

Materials

Lights are manufactured by the mix of various gaseous that cannot work independently to produce lights. Some of the most commonly used materials in the manufacture of light lamps are mercury, halogens like iodine and bromine, noble gases like neon, argon, xenon and krypton), phosphorus. Blue LED and quantum dots are some materials that are specially requisite in the production of LED lamps.

Applications

Incandescent lights are the most common lighting fixtures that can be found anywhere. Apart from this the flood lights and spot lights are required mainly in the stage productions and theater performances to highlight a particular person or object. The miniature lamps are designed for decorative purposes while the newest member, the compact fluorescent lights is being used for houses as well as offices as they are cost effective. LED lights are applicable in areas like traffic signals, domestic lighting and billboard lighting. The application of Halogen lights is limited to automobiles and home outdoor lighting system.
