Types
Armouring Wires - These types of electrical wire are used in the power, terrestrial and marine communications industry for binding electrical cables. They're heavily coated and used in places where the cable may be subject to crushing or other injury.

Braided Wires - In electric hardware market, braided wires are those fine wires that are woven around a conductor or cable for shielding purposes.

Electric Fence Wires - These are basically made to the prevent the entering of cattle and stray animals. Easy to erect and adapt these barbed wires have molded plastic body and a post mounting portion surrounding and receiving a vertical T-type metal fence post.

Enameled Wires - They are essentially copper wires that are made with a very thin insulating layer of polyurethane, polyamide, or polyester.

Fuse Wires - Fuse wires are the kinds of electric wires that used in consumer units in some parts of the world, but of recent are becoming less common.

Hook Up Wires - Used in the electronic industry they are designed to work efficiently in low current and low voltage applications.

Insulated Wires - Those kinds of electrical wires belong to the series of laying electric wires, which are mainly suitable for placing at the fixed places.

Metal Wires - The cylindrical elongated string of drawn metal used to bear mechanical loads and to carry electricity and telecommunications signals can be termed as metal wires.

Shielded Wires - The main advantage of these shielded wires is that they provide magnetic interference protection and the shield prevents capacitive coupled interference.

Thermocouple Wires - Thermocouple wire are those electric wires that are made from two dissimilar metals designed for measuring of temperature.

Winding Wires - These wires are used for motors and rotor generators. They also act instrumental in windings of electrical equipment.

Materials

Carbon, Phosphorus, Manganese, Silicon and Sulphur are the most ordinarily used manufacturing materials for armouring wires. Teflon offering high cost, high temperature rating, excellent chemical resistance, Tefzel having excellent physical properties, light weight Kapton, polyethylene except flame retardant Rula and polysulphone are some of the most common manufacturing materials that goes in the production of these electric wires.

Applications

Enameled wires are used in winding electric motor coils, speakers and transformers. It is also used in the construction of electromagnets and inductors. The application of hooked up wires is limited to electronic industry. Winding wires are extensively used in the motors and rotor generators.
