The Association of Building Sustainability Assessors (ABSA) is a non-profit incorporated association representing building and design professionals who specialise in assessing the environmental impact of buildings. It is the only nationally recognised standard for Assessor training and Quality Assurance meeting with the requirements of the NSW Building Sustainability Index (BASIX) and the Building Code of Australia. It offers advice and information for Councils, building professionals and consumers and conducts seminars on sustainable development.

It is composed of more than 15,000 organizations from across the building industry including corporations, builders, universities, government agencies, and other nonprofit organizations. It is working with a vision to modify the way communities and buildings are designed, built and operated, and create an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy, and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life.
The UK Green Building Council (UK-GBC) was launched in February 2007 to improve the sustainability of the built environment, by radically transforming the way it is planned, designed, constructed, maintained and operated. It is a membership organisation, consisting of businesses, NGOs, academic institutions and government agencies.
