Sustainability is the buzz word today. The meaning of sustainability differs for different areas. It can be defined as a process or technology that utilizes the resources in an optimum way so that the resources may not exhaust and could be replenished in future.

Keeping these points in mind each aspect of green buildings are designed & constructed to high environmental standards, such as minimizing energy requirements, reducing water consumption, using building materials of low environmental impact, reducing wastage, conserving the natural environment and safeguard human health and well being.

Following is the list of building associations and councils engaged in sustainability in buildings. These associations are aimed at providing and sharing the resources and technologies to design sustainable green buildings and communities. The main approach of these associations is to facilitate the learning between members and help the building industry take the action required on sustainability.
